Discover on an unforgettable journey starting from Cusco at dawn, where you'll traverse the breathtaking Andean valleys and connect with the rich cultural landscape of rural Peru. Your adventure begins by exploring the pre-Incan archaeological site of Ninanmarca, perched majestically at 3,600 meters above sea level, offering a profound glimpse into the ancient Lupaca culture's fascinating burial practices.
Next, you'll visit Paucartambo, a charming colonial city that captures the essence of Peruvian historical heritage. Here, the local museum will provide deeper insights into the region's cultural tapestry, allowing you to understand the area's historical context and traditional ways of life.
As you continue your descent, you'll enter the enchanting cloud forest, a biodiversity hotspot teeming with extraordinary wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the iconic spectacled bear and the vibrant cock-of-the-rock, Peru's national bird renowned for its spectacular courtship ritual. The forest is a living museum of endemic species, with a stunning array of orchids, bromeliads, and delicate ferns painting the landscape in vivid colors.
Your journey culminates at Atalaya Port, where you'll board a motorboat and glide down the river for a 30-minute scenic ride. Your destination is a welcoming hostel where you'll spend the night.

Watch in awe as blue-headed parrots, white-eyed parakeets, and chestnut-fronted macaws converge to consume mineral-rich clay—a fascinating behavior that aids their digestion and helps them eliminate toxins from their bodies.
After this captivating wildlife spectacle, return to the lodge for a nourishing breakfast that will energize you for the day's adventures. Following your meal, embark on a 2-3 hour guided walk through the lush forest, immersing yourself in the intricate ecosystem of the Amazon. Lunch back at the lodge offers a chance to refuel and relax. You'll have the option to rest, take a refreshing swim in the river, or, for the more adventurous, try an exhilarating zip-line experience that provides a thrilling perspective of the jungle canopy.
In the afternoon, explore Lake Machuwasi by raft, offering opportunities to observe fascinating wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the prehistoric hoatzin bird, and if fortune smiles upon you, you might spot playful monkeys or gentle capybaras along the shoreline.
As darkness falls, join a nocturnal forest walk—a magical journey into the hidden world of insects and amphibians that come alive after sunset. This unique experience will reveal the Amazon's secret nighttime inhabitants, offering a completely different perspective of the rainforest ecosystem.
End your remarkable day with a delightful dinner, sharing stories and reflections of your Amazon adventures before retiring to your accommodations.
The optional zip-line activity provides an unparalleled opportunity to experience the jungle from above. It was a wonderful experience! Our guide Elio was very experienced and made the trip a lot more fun. Our group was also able incredible. The 4 days inca trail might be hard but is totally worth it and is full of unforgettable adventures. The cook made us very delicious meals and the potters were very hard workers and made sure our group had a comfortable experience. Highly recommend!

Great experience! Elliott our guide was THE BEST. Even though we had to take our time (not being the youngest and fittest) to get up to the top and down all the steps, Elliott always waiting for us and encouraged us (“almost there” and “you made it, you made it!”). He had a lot of knowledge of the nature we walked through, and all the Inca history. We learned a lot from him. The porters from José Louis were quick with setting everything up and very attentive. The cook, Anastacio, was amazing making an abundance of delicious meals 3 times a day. I had my birthday on day 3 of the trek and he even made me a yummy bday cake out of nowhere with my name written on it! Great group of people to camp with. Only thing that can be improve upon were the tents. They were old, not very big (we tall Westerners just fit in it with our packs) and were leaking and wet on the inside when it rained. The bathrooms at each campsite were also pretty crummy (we are used to basic toilets when camping in Canada but these were quite disgusting in need of an update). For the rest we LOVED the trek!! What a beautiful variety of nature we walked through! Machu Picchu at the end was a real treat. Although the Sun Gate was in the clouds so no view of the city from the top, we had a super interesting tour with Elliott for about 2 hours. We have some amazing new memories! Thank you!

The 2 day Inca trek was amazing abs a good challenge for our teenage kids. The sites and ruins in the way to Machu Picchu were spectacular and the expert information from our guides Santiago was fantastic. Overall we would highly recommend this tour for other families!
