With this program you will have the opportunity to discover the famous annual Festival of the Sun " Inti Raymi" held on June 24th. We also give you an overnight in Machu Picchu village to appreciate the sunrise over Machu Picchu Inca City.
Cusco holds many different festivals full of artistic expressions. It is important for the Cusquenian to nourish themselves from their profound origin, projecting an alliance with nature and the mother earth or Pachamama through their festivities full of rhythms and colors. A way for them to reinforce their commitment to life, extending it with their hospitality to the visitors.
Cusco bieng the capital of Tahuantinsuyo, the Inka´s Country, the center of the Empire of the four regions and the "navel of the Inka world." One of the most outstanding Empire in the history of humanity. The Incas ,within less than one hundred years, expended their territory from its northern borders of Quito, in Ecuador, to the far south of Santiago, Chili and as far as Argentina. Cusco is one of the most incredible city in America.
We will pick you up from the airport or the bus station to then take you to your hotel. The city tour begins at 14:00 p.m. and will include attractions.
It was the Main Temple of the Incas, Qoricancha, where devotees worshiped the Sun God. In that time, the engineers used gold to cover the walls. In the main terraces existed statues of animal, in their natural size, also covered with gold. It served as well as the residence of the many wives of the Inca Kings or rulers. Embalmed mommies of the Kings were kept inside and for some looked almost alive.
The city of Cusco was in the form of a Puma which was exactly like Saqsayhuaman. Situated about 3 km from Cusco, it is an impressive Temple monument with magnificent stone architecture. It is also known as the Casa del Sol, which holds every year, on June 24th, the ancestral ritual of Inti Raymi.
Known as the Temple of Pachamama or Mother Earth, it was used as a ceremonial center for rituals, Qenqo. The amphitheater was used to make sacrifices in black flames. During the winter solstice, on June 21st, the sun illuminates the well-polished bricks revealing a shadow in the form of a Puma. From this natural phenomenon, known as "The Awakening of the Puma", was born the great Incas festival of Inti Raymi.
This was the Fortaleza of the Incas, Puca Pucara. There was always surveillance through out the Empire and along the Inca roads. Considered also as a controlled entry and exit of all those traveling to or from the holy city of Cusco.
The famous Royal baths, Tambomachay, situated at 7 km. from Cusco, it was used as a ceremonial center to worship the element of water. It is also believed to be a resting place for the Inka. At 6:30 p.m. we will return to Cusco, you can then decide to either be left in the beautiful main square, the Plaza del Armas or be taken back to your hotel.
Ready for a day filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes?
What an exciting day awaits us! We’ll start bright and early at 6:30 AM, picking up each traveler at their hotel to begin our adventure through the magnificent Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Our first stop will be Chinchero, a magical town that seems frozen in time. Imagine a place where history lives in every corner: original Inca streets, colonial churches built over ancient temples, and local artisans weaving stories into every textile they create. It’s like stepping into a time machine.
Next, we’ll dive into the agricultural brilliance of the Incas in Moray. These stunning circular terraces are not just for farming; they are actual agricultural laboratories where the Incas experimented with microclimates to domesticate and adapt plants. It’s an ingenuity that still surprises today.
Then, we’ll head to the Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular landscape where over 380 families have preserved an ancient tradition. Over 3,000 white salt ponds, fed by waters filtered from the Qoripukiu mountain, will offer a truly stunning view.
Afterward, a well-deserved buffet lunch in Urubamba, prepared with local ingredients, will fuel us for our exploration of Ollantaytambo. This archaeological site wasn’t just a location—it was the administrative, military, and economic heart of the Incas, strategically positioned to control various ecological zones.
Finally, we’ll board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Once we arrive, we’ll take you directly to your hotel so you can relax and prepare for the grand adventure that lies ahead.
After breakfast, we will take the bus (6 a.m.) up to Machu Picchu to enjoy the beautiful sunrise. After, you will have a guided walking tour (approximately 2 hours) given by your tour guide. If you have the entrance ticket for Waynapicchu, you can ascent Huayna Picchu (2720 m/8890 ft)!!! It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top.
We will then take the train back to Ollantaytambo with the Expedition Service (to Ollantaytambo) and a bus to Cusco. We'll be in Cusco around 22:30pm.
NOTE: The admission to Waynapicchu needs to be confirmed at the time of booking and is subject to space availability. (Maximum 400 people per day).
INCLUDES:
We will start the tour at 8:00 a.m. with a hotel pickup. The INTI RAYMI ceremony takes place in three different scenes at different locations. First, we will take you to the opening scene of the festival, at the Qoricancha Palace, located on Av. El Sol. After the performance, we will continue to the next scene at Cusco’s Main Square, Plaza de Armas. Finally, we will head to the most important scene at Sacsayhuaman (3 km from Cusco).
The central scene of INTI RAYMI takes place at the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Center, where bleachers have been set up to accommodate around 3,906 people. All seats are very comfortable for the viewers. There is a VIP section for these three bleachers, offering the best views of the ceremony.

We did the 4D, 3 nights Inca Trail with Jorge the first week of December 2024. The tour was incredible with beautiful views along the way and of course a worthwhile final destination. The Inca Trail team was great and our guide was very knowledgeable the only thing to note was that we wish that the guide matched our walking pace more. We were happy with the equipment borrowed/rented that were in fair condition. Food was overall very tasty and varied but the portions were a bit small for some. Very value for money, would recommend.

I recently completed the 4-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, and it was an absolutely flawless experience from start to finish. The communication with the company ITEP beforehand was outstanding—every question was answered promptly and clearly, which gave me a lot of confidence heading into the adventure. My guide Jorge Calderón was exceptional. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also extremely attentive to needs and individual pace. He tailored the experience to match my abilities, ensuring I felt comfortable and supported throughout. His explanations about the landscapes, history, and culture were fascinating, and he always had answers to my questions, no matter how detailed or specific. The entire trek felt incredibly safe, and I always knew what to expect thanks to the Jorge’s clear instructions and thorough preparation. The route itself was breathtaking, and every day brought new highlights—whether it was the stunning views of the Salkantay Pass, the lush cloud forest, or the incredible final approach to Machu Picchu. Even the occurring rain couldn't diminish that. These four days were incredible, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re considering this trek, I highly recommend it—you won’t be disappointed!
