Since 2016, Inka Foundation has represented our long-term commitment to Andean communities. Through meaningful actions and partnerships with local institutions, we support education, inclusion, and community development.
We proudly collaborate with CEBE Nuestra Señora del Rosario, supporting school anniversaries and important community events that promote inclusion and shared experiences.
We work closely with the institution by purchasing handmade products created by students and staff. In addition, we provide guidance and training to strengthen their productive initiatives and long-term sustainability.
We contribute to improving educational facilities, including classroom furniture, kitchen equipment, and essential learning tools for children with special needs.
At the beginning of each academic year, we help provide school materials so students have the resources they need for a dignified and quality education.
All of our porters are local people from Cusco — true unsung heroes who make every Inca Trail expedition possible. They carry equipment, set up camps, and prepare incredible meals high in the mountains. But their impact goes far beyond the trail.
Our support extends to additional community-based services that enrich the travel experience while generating income for local families. Muleteers transporting gear, local transportation providers, community guides, and food services all benefit from sustainable tourism. These partnerships diversify income opportunities and strengthen the social and cultural fabric of Andean communities.
We are committed to hiring locally and supporting the communities that protect these ancestral paths. We collaborate with families from Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Lares, Urubamba, and other villages. By traveling with us, you directly support local development and sustainable livelihoods.
We guarantee fair wages, health insurance, quality equipment, and ethical weight limits. Our porters are treated with dignity and respect. We also promote continuous training so they can expand their professional opportunities both within and beyond tourism.
The Peruvian Andes are a natural treasure that must be preserved for future generations. Our environmental responsibility is reflected in year-round initiatives.
Each year, our team organizes clean-up campaigns along the Inca Trail and other trekking routes. We collect plastic bottles, packaging, and non-organic waste. Over the past years, we have removed more than 2 tons of trash, helping restore the natural beauty of these historic trails.
We apply sustainable practices across all expeditions: solar energy usage, elimination of single-use plastics, composting organic waste, and efficient transportation. We offset 100% of our carbon emissions.
We provide environmental workshops in local communities, teaching sustainable agriculture, responsible waste management, and biodiversity conservation. Children participate in hands-on activities that empower them as future environmental ambassadors.
Christmas is a special time in the Peruvian Andes and a meaningful opportunity to give back to the communities that welcome us throughout the year.
Every December, our team visits remote high-altitude communities delivering gifts, food, warm clothing, and school supplies to children who rarely receive this kind of support.
Beyond material donations, we share time with families, learn about ancestral traditions, and celebrate together. These experiences enrich both those who receive and those who give.
From guides to administrative staff, everyone volunteers in this campaign. It strengthens our purpose and reinforces our shared commitment to responsible tourism.
