Can you imagine getting lost for 8 days in the pure magic of the Peruvian Amazon? This trip is not for ordinary tourists—it's for adventurers with the spirit of explorers.
Your journey will begin in Cusco, where you'll enter misty forests that seem straight out of a fairy tale. You'll spend nights in remote lodges where the only sound is that of the jungle, and navigate through crystal-clear lakes where nature follows its own rules.
In places like Cocha Salvador and Cocha Otorongo, you'll witness biodiversity beyond imagination. You'll come face-to-face with species you never knew existed and observe wildlife in its most authentic setting.
But this journey is more than just a sightseeing tour. You'll have the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of the Matsiguenka people, learn about their ancient traditions, and understand how they have thrived in harmony with this vast jungle.
Eco-lodges will be your refuge, rivers your path, and every sunrise a promise of new wonders. It's more than a trip—it's a total immersion in the untouched heart of the Peruvian Amazon. An experience that will be forever etched in your memory.
Are you ready for an adventure that will change the way you see the world?
Our adventure begins early from Cusco, with a hearty breakfast in Huancarani. We’ll visit the enigmatic Ninamarca funerary towers and explore Paucartambo, a colonial village steeped in history.
Upon reaching Acjanaco, the gateway to Manu National Park, our guide will immerse us in the secrets of this lush paradise. The descent into the Cloud Forest feels like stepping into another world: orchids that look like paintings, ancient ferns, and a symphony of wildlife.
Be ready to spot falcons, quetzals, and the stunning Andean Cock-of-the-rock. With a bit of luck, we may even see monkeys playing in the trees. We’ll end the day at the cozy Bamboo Lodge, where we’ll spend the night, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
A new dawn, a new chapter. After breakfast, we head to Atalaya, where the river awaits. A boat ride will offer us the chance to spot herons, cormorants, and the peculiar hoatzin, a bird that seems straight out of a prehistoric tale. As we journey along, we’ll witness a colorful array of birds and wildlife.
We’ll stop at natural hot springs, where we may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of animals like monkeys or capybaras.
Lunch by the hot springs and the onward journey to Dorado Lodge will gift us with moments of pure Amazonian magic, immersing us further into the heart of this incredible ecosystem.
The dawn will surprise us as we sail down the Manu River. At the Limonal Ranger Station, biodiversity takes center stage: vibrant macaws, calm capybaras, and turtles basking in the sun.
Could we spot a jaguar soaking up the rays? It's certainly possible.
We’ll arrive at Casa Matsiguenka Lodge, our home for the next few days. After settling in, we’ll embark on an afternoon hike to awaken all our senses and truly connect with the wild surroundings.
A day to truly lose yourself in the beauty of "Cocha" Salvador Lake. Aboard a catamaran, we’ll witness unique wildlife, from the elusive Agami heron to playful capuchin monkeys and the mighty giant river otters.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore trails where each plant tells a medicinal story. As evening falls, we’ll take a moment of tranquility, watching the sunset through the lush vegetation. We might even cross paths with a group of peccaries, wild pigs that call this place home.
We’ll return to Casa Matsiguenka for the night.
We begin our day by visiting the Macaw Clay Lick along the Salvadorcillo stream. Afterward, we’ll head to the last viewpoint of Manu National Park before boarding a boat to Pakitza. There, we’ll immerse ourselves in the dense forest, teeming with vibrant birds and terrestrial animals.
For those seeking an extra thrill, a night hike offers the chance to discover a whole new world as the creatures of the night awaken.
We’ll return to Casa Matsiguenka for the night.
Today offers another chance to explore the fascinating forest surrounding our lodge. With some luck, we may spot a group of tiny tamarin monkeys—some of the smallest primates in the world! Be on the lookout, as they may appear unexpectedly. We’ll also visit Cocha Otorongo Lake, where a 20-meter observation tower provides stunning views of the jungle and its wildlife.
After lunch, we’ll embark on a four-hour boat ride along the Manu River towards our next lodge. During the journey, we might encounter black caimans basking in the sun along the riverbanks, and if we're fortunate, the majestic jaguar, South America's largest feline. In the afternoon, we’ll explore a new network of trails, completely different from the previous ones, to uncover more of the jungle’s secrets.
Once again, we rise early to enjoy a peaceful walk around our camp before packing up and starting our journey upstream. On our return journey, we’ll stop at beautiful hot springs, ideal for relaxing and taking a refreshing bath.
These hot springs are located a short distance from the Upper Madre de Dios River. From there, we’ll continue to Puerto Atalaya, where we’ll take a 40-minute drive to the Bamboo Lodge. We’ll spend our final night in this magical Amazon jungle, soaking in its unique beauty.
The day begins with breakfast, marking the start of our return journey. We’ll take one last scenic route through the Cloud Forest, with final opportunities to spot birds, before heading back to Cusco.

We did the 4D, 3 nights Inca Trail with Jorge the first week of December 2024. The tour was incredible with beautiful views along the way and of course a worthwhile final destination. The Inca Trail team was great and our guide was very knowledgeable the only thing to note was that we wish that the guide matched our walking pace more. We were happy with the equipment borrowed/rented that were in fair condition. Food was overall very tasty and varied but the portions were a bit small for some. Very value for money, would recommend.

I recently completed the 4-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, and it was an absolutely flawless experience from start to finish. The communication with the company ITEP beforehand was outstanding—every question was answered promptly and clearly, which gave me a lot of confidence heading into the adventure. My guide Jorge Calderón was exceptional. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also extremely attentive to needs and individual pace. He tailored the experience to match my abilities, ensuring I felt comfortable and supported throughout. His explanations about the landscapes, history, and culture were fascinating, and he always had answers to my questions, no matter how detailed or specific. The entire trek felt incredibly safe, and I always knew what to expect thanks to the Jorge’s clear instructions and thorough preparation. The route itself was breathtaking, and every day brought new highlights—whether it was the stunning views of the Salkantay Pass, the lush cloud forest, or the incredible final approach to Machu Picchu. Even the occurring rain couldn't diminish that. These four days were incredible, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re considering this trek, I highly recommend it—you won’t be disappointed!
