Itinerary

Day 1 | Manu

Cusco - Cloud Forest - Lodge

Our adventure begins early from Cusco, with a hearty breakfast in Huancarani. We’ll visit the enigmatic Ninamarca funerary towers and explore Paucartambo, a colonial village steeped in history.

Upon reaching Acjanaco, the gateway to Manu National Park, our guide will immerse us in the secrets of this lush paradise. The descent into the Cloud Forest feels like stepping into another world: orchids that look like paintings, ancient ferns, and a symphony of wildlife.

Be ready to spot falcons, quetzals, and the stunning Andean Cock-of-the-rock. With a bit of luck, we may even see monkeys playing in the trees. We’ll end the day at the cozy Bamboo Lodge, where we’ll spend the night, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2 | Manu

Sailing the Upper Madre de Dios River - Lodge

A new dawn, a new chapter. After breakfast, we head to Atalaya, where the river awaits. A boat ride will offer us the chance to spot herons, cormorants, and the peculiar hoatzin, a bird that seems straight out of a prehistoric tale. As we journey along, we’ll witness a colorful array of birds and wildlife.

We’ll stop at natural hot springs, where we may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of animals like monkeys or capybaras.

Lunch by the hot springs and the onward journey to Dorado Lodge will gift us with moments of pure Amazonian magic, immersing us further into the heart of this incredible ecosystem.

Day 3 | Manu

The dawn will surprise us as we sail down the Manu River. At the Limonal Ranger Station, biodiversity takes center stage: vibrant macaws, calm capybaras, and turtles basking in the sun.

Could we spot a jaguar soaking up the rays? It's certainly possible.

We’ll arrive at Casa Matsiguenka Lodge, our home for the next few days. After settling in, we’ll embark on an afternoon hike to awaken all our senses and truly connect with the wild surroundings.

Day 4 | Manu

Salvador Lake - A Wildlife Paradise

A day to truly lose yourself in the beauty of "Cocha" Salvador Lake. Aboard a catamaran, we’ll witness unique wildlife, from the elusive Agami heron to playful capuchin monkeys and the mighty giant river otters.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore trails where each plant tells a medicinal story. As evening falls, we’ll take a moment of tranquility, watching the sunset through the lush vegetation. We might even cross paths with a group of peccaries, wild pigs that call this place home.

We’ll return to Casa Matsiguenka for the night.

Day 5 | Manu

Expedition to Pakitza - Secrets of the Jungle

We begin our day by visiting the Macaw Clay Lick along the Salvadorcillo stream. Afterward, we’ll head to the last viewpoint of Manu National Park before boarding a boat to Pakitza. There, we’ll immerse ourselves in the dense forest, teeming with vibrant birds and terrestrial animals.

For those seeking an extra thrill, a night hike offers the chance to discover a whole new world as the creatures of the night awaken.

We’ll return to Casa Matsiguenka for the night.

Day 6 | Manu

Today offers another chance to explore the fascinating forest surrounding our lodge. With some luck, we may spot a group of tiny tamarin monkeys—some of the smallest primates in the world! Be on the lookout, as they may appear unexpectedly. We’ll also visit Cocha Otorongo Lake, where a 20-meter observation tower provides stunning views of the jungle and its wildlife.

After lunch, we’ll embark on a four-hour boat ride along the Manu River towards our next lodge. During the journey, we might encounter black caimans basking in the sun along the riverbanks, and if we're fortunate, the majestic jaguar, South America's largest feline. In the afternoon, we’ll explore a new network of trails, completely different from the previous ones, to uncover more of the jungle’s secrets.

Once again, we rise early to enjoy a peaceful walk around our camp before packing up and starting our journey upstream. On our return journey, we’ll stop at beautiful hot springs, ideal for relaxing and taking a refreshing bath.

These hot springs are located a short distance from the Upper Madre de Dios River. From there, we’ll continue to Puerto Atalaya, where we’ll take a 40-minute drive to the Bamboo Lodge. We’ll spend our final night in this magical Amazon jungle, soaking in its unique beauty.
