Inca Trail & Machu Picchu Availability 2024 & 2025

Availability and Booking Information

The Ministry of Culture has released the availability calendar for all Machu Picchu and Inca Trail permits for 2025. This includes Short Inca Trail (1 and 2 days), Classic Inca Trail (4 days), Salkantay Trek, Machu Picchu entrance tickets, Huayna Picchu, and Machu Picchu Mountain access. Here we strongly recommend that:

Key Information for 2025 Bookings:

• Book now: We are currently accepting advance reservations for 2025 (March, April, May, June, August, and beyond). Due to high demand, permits often sell out 6-8 months in advance.
• Peak Season: The optimal time for the Classic Inca Trail and most Cusco tours is from May to August. Early booking is essential for these months.
• February: The Inca Trail is closed throughout February for maintenance and conservation. This month also typically experiences heavy rainfall.

Daily Permits Limits:

• Classic Inca Trail (4 days): 500 spaces daily (including support staff, cooks, and guides)
• Short Inca Trail (2 days): 250 spaces daily (including support staff and guides)

New Machu Picchu Circuits (From June 2024):

• Circuit 1: Upper Terrace route (Only circuit 1, + Machu Picchu mountain, + Inti Punku, + Inka Bridge)
• Circuit 2: Classic route (2-A, 2-B)
• Circuit 3: Lower Terrace route (Only circuit 3, + Wayna Picchu, + Huchuy Picchu, + Great Cave)

Important Access Information:

• Inca Trail Tickets (both Classic and Short) include access to Machu Picchu via Circuit 1 ("Guardian's House") and Circuit 3.
• Wayna Picchu, Huchuy Picchu and Great Cave tickets include Machu Picchu access via Circuit 3.
• Machu Picchu Mountain, Inti Punku and Inka Bridge tickets include Machu Picchu access via Circuit 1.

Alternative Trek Routes:

• For visitors choosing Salkantay Trek, Choquequirao, Inca Jungle, or Lares Trek, Machu Picchu visit occurs on the final day (Circuit 2 or 3, subject to availability).
